Borum LineMaster - World Premiere

New computer system makes road marking a breeze

A revolution is about to change the face of the road marking industry. Road marking machine manufacturer Borum, has developed the LineMaster, a computer system that brings all road marking applications together in one simple solution - and makes life easier for road markers everywhere.

The Borum LineMaster computer and software system helps operators control all road marking tasks, from line application and pre-marking to reporting and invoicing. The system makes road marking much simpler - and people in the traffic and transport industry will be able to see it, and try it, when it's launched at the Intertraffic Amsterdam 2010 trade fair.

The LineMaster is part of Borum's ‘straightforward strategy' and product development process, designed to help customers get the most from their road marking machines and improve profitability. Ole Munch, Borum's Managing Director, explains, "We've recently upgraded all our machines and, with the new LineMaster system, our product range is now the most advanced and user-friendly on the market."

Scalable and intuitive
In the road marking industry, new applications tend to mean new add-ons to existing machinery. But with the LineMaster, all the applications are brought together in one system, and add-ons don't take up extra space. Johnny Jørgensen, Project Manager at Borum, says, "What's great about the LineMaster is that it's scalable. New functions, extra software and upgrades can be installed easily using the USB memory stick. And the intuitive interface makes it so easy to use."

An electrician at Borum for the last 12 years, Johnny and his team have been working on the project for a number of years. A self-confessed mediocre road marking machine operator, Johnny found that the LineMaster made the job so much easier. "A good road marker has to drive in a straight line on all kinds of terrain, apply the lines, and keep control of all the different processes simultaneously. With the LineMaster, the high resolution 8¼-inch interactive screen gives a great overview of all the important processes, and makes it much easier to operate. Adjusting the parameters during marking is simple and it's easy to read the screen in either bright sunlight or in the dark."

Reporting is much easier too. Information is right at hand, including the line type and length and the total marked area. You can also add information such as the amount of material used, the air and road surface temperature and the humidity. All this information can be saved on the USB, which makes it much easier for the operator to hand over his work reports for administration purposes, such as preparing invoices and reports

A promising future
The LineMaster will be installed in all new Borum machines. "We're very proud of the LineMaster. It's a best-in-class product and sets a new standard in the industry," says Johnny. To date, the market response has been very enthusiastic. "We've had very positive reactions to the new system, and the order book is looking good for 2010," adds Ole Munch.

So what will Johnny be working on after the LineMaster launch? "I've invested a lot of time in this project, so it's hard to put down. I'm already thinking up new features and add-ons and ways to take road marking machine control to even higher levels."
